These copycat white castle sliders are the real deal. To be honest, I don’t remember the last time I ate in White Castle restaurants. But I make these sliders often, especially for super bowl parties and New Year’s Eve. All who’ve eaten these little sliders have a fondness for the famous fast food restaurant. And everyone says the taste is spot on, or at least close enough. They are mostly hand-off in their preparation. And yes, I cook the ground beef right in the slow cooker. No need to turn on the stove.

Ingredients for slow cooker white castle sliders
- Ground Sirloin – Since it’s cooking right in the slow cooker, use the leanest ground beef, with a 90/10 or less fat content ratio. I use Kroger ground sirloin or sometimes Laura’s lean beef.
- Frozen Onions – White castles are heavy on the onion flavor. For ease of preparation, I use frozen diced onions. But you could choose to chop up a fresh onion instead.
- Lipton Onion Soup Mix – Such an easy way to add flavor to these loose meat sliders.
- Worcestershire Sauce – Another layer of flavor and saltiness.
- Velveeta Cheese – It’s the best choice for melting into the meat mixtue and making these sliders extra cheesy.
- Slider Buns and Pickle Slices – Use your favorite brand of buns or hawaiian rolls. Be sure to choose crisp dill pickles because the quality of pickles is important to the slider experience.
Instructions for slider style white castle burgers
It’s almost embarrassing how easy these are to prepare. Into a 6-quart Crock-Pot insert, dump the onions, onion soup package and Worcestershire sauce. Break up the ground meat into smaller pieces and place on top of the bed of onions and seasonings.
Cook on high power for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally to make sure everything cooks evenly. Discard the liquid after cooking if you want your slider mixture to be extra thick.
Cut the Velveeta cheese into cubes and stir into the meat mixture. Cook on low until completely melted. Spoon a generous helping of the beef mixture onto slider buns and top with dill pickle slices to serve.
