How to Preserve Avocados

Save money and learn how to preserve avocados by freezing them when they are perfectly ripe. They freeze beautifully and it is easy to do.

Ingredients

  • 4 avocados
  • 1 lime

Instructions

  • Cut each avocado in half.
  • Remove the pits and discard.
  • Take a spoon and gently scoop the avocado flesh away from the skin, so you have 8 avocado halves.
  • Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  • Cut a lime in half and rub it across the parchment paper.
  • Lay the avocado halves, cut side down, on the parchment paper.
  • Squeeze the rest of the lime juice over the avocado halves.
  • Place the tray of avocado halves in the freezer for about four hours, or until they are frozen.
  • Transfer the frozen avocado halves to freezer-safe, gallon-sized, zippered bags.
  • The avocado halves can be kept in the freezer for up to one month.
  • When ready to use, take the desired amount of avocado halves out of the bag and allow them to thaw in a bowl at room temperature, for about two hours.
