The timing worked out perfectly for this post because just yesterday I featured frozen summer treats for kids and now today I am featuring a frozen summer treat for adults!
I’m normally a beer and bourbon girl… in other words, I’m not always “girly” in the traditional sense. However alfresco dining and summer nights puts even me in the mood for a frosty, sweet summer cocktail. So I was excited to create this mango chipotle sorbet to “float” in Arbor Mist. It’s a grown-up equivalent of an ice cream float, but with alcohol.
The sorbet does need a high-powered blender or food processor to make, but not an ice cream maker, since I don’t own one myself. It’s a simple mix of frozen mango cubes (purchased prepared at your grocery), simple syrup, a little lime juice and a dash of ground chipotle… because why not? It’s summer so let’s have some fun!
Mango pairs well with lots of flavors, so choose your own personal favorite from the wide range of Arbor Mist varietes. I personally liked my mango sorbet mixed with the Blackberry Merlot.
I also wanted to show how quick and easy a casual “Girls Night In” can be to host. I made a batch of my homemade guacamole and then purchased some taquitos, sausage, sliced pineapple, red peppers and canned chipotle peanuts. It took me less than 30 minutes to chop, heat and set everything out. Isn’t it pretty?
Now I know I have a lot of fun dishes for my job as a food blogger, but I think it’s a great tip for anyone to pick up a cute dish here and there on clearance and then you have an eclectic set to serve from when you have people over. It adds interest to your table setting and you can use them over and over again without buying new “decorations”.
Now that I’ve gotten you excited for summer entertaining, click on over to Arbor Mist because they want to get you excited about summer FUN in a big way! They are giving away one water sport vehicle and 100 other beach-themed prizes. Wouldn’t that be a fun way to kick off your summer?
