You know what is absolutely necessary in our house for back to school? A printing station. With a required school laptop on the horizon for our oldest, constant online projects and collages that require printed photos and sometimes scanned certificates or awards, plus new school year forms to print from the school website and complete, a printer has been a necessity in our house since elementary school started for our two kids.
Ours was outdated and then the scanner broke so it was time for a sleeker model – this HP DeskJet 3636 All-in-One Inkjet Multifunction Printer/Copier/Scanner. HP has an affordable AiO that comes in three “too cool for school colors” – Vibrant Red, Dragonfly Blue, Sporty Purple. We chose the Sporty Purple because it compliments our homework station. I put our space together almost three years ago and it’s just as functional now as then. The only thing that’s been updated is the technology it holds!
I was able to quickly print, scan, and copy—right out of the box—and create a clutter free printing station thanks to its space-saving design. And can you believe WalMart sells these printers for only $49? And that includes ink cartridges to get you started!
To set up my station I found all I needed in WalMart’s office/school supply section. A black crate, a few hanging file folders to hold my paper and an office supply tray to hold a spare set of ink cartridges (for when a school project is sprung upon me at 10 pm the night before it’s due), glue sticks for those collages and scissors to trim our photos. I bought four types of paper so I’m ready for any project my kids’ teachers assign. HP photo paper, multi-colored paper, card stock and standard printing paper. I am so, SO ready for this school year and my kids don’t go back until August 29th!
The coolest feature (for me) about this printer is I can print directly from my smart phone with the free HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app. My old printer definitely didn’t do that! And with most of my photos being taken by my phone now I am beyond thrilled that I can print any picture I want instantly at home. My kids will have even better collages now because I don’t have to make a late-night run to pick up photos. That for sure is worth the price and function of this printer!
I created a back to school printable for you too. Simply save and print on your new HP DeskJet 3636. It prints in such bright and bold colors. Great for catching everyone’s attention and remembering all those first days of school.
With HP printers you can also access coloring pages, recipes, coupons, and more with free HP Printables – delivered on your schedule. Now tell me, how do you keep your family organized during the school year? I hope my idea for a back to school printing station helps you stay focused!
